The fourth edition of the football tournament “A goal for Valter”
On Thursday and Friday, the 29th and 30th of August 2024, “A goal for Valter” was held in Cannara, in the municipal stadium which was recently dedicated to Valter Baldaccini. The football tournament was organized by ASD Cannara with a dual objective: to remember how important Valter Baldaccini’s passion for football was for the Cannara community and to make his actions and his example of life known to the new generations.
Now in its fourth edition, the tournament saw six under-13 teams from all over Umbria compete: ASD Cannara; AC Perugia Calcio; Terni Football Club; ASD Calcio Palazzo; AC Fulgens Foligno; U.S. Tolentino 1919.
They were two exciting and intense afternoons where one hundred kids challenged each other in the name of friendship, fun and fair play. In fact, respect has always been one of the principles that has guided Valter, who still leads the Valter Baldaccini Foundation, and during the event we tried to convey this value both among those who were on the field and among those who found themselves cheering in the stands.
On the field following the values of Valter Baldaccini
First as a player and then as a manager of ASD Cannara Valter has always promoted a type of football that is played by putting others at the center, so much so that in 1991 he wrote a letter with his rules of football:
“Dear friend,
A.S. Cannara needs you.
Cannarese sport and football in particular needs you.
ENOUGH with the insults to players and referees.
PARTICIPATE in the games by encouraging your team out loud.
APPLAUD the good play of the opposing team.
CONSIDER THE REFEREE a player like the others and therefore also subject to making mistakes.
GIVE your contribution so that every game becomes a real and healthy entertainment for everyone. In this way you will also honor the name of your country”.
Even though some years have passed, his message still resonates and the aim of “Un Goal per Valter” is to transmit this important message to the new generations.
A team effort in memory of Valter Baldaccini
“Un goal per Valter”, sponsored by the Municipality of Cannara, was possible thanks to the precious contribution of the main sponsors UMBRAGROUP and Lillocci Impianti Elettrici, of the sponsors Termioidraulica Bortolina srl and COMFA Tecnoservice srl and of KUHN Präzisionsspindeln Und Gewindetechnik GmbH and Präzisionskugeln Eltmann GmbH.
