Among the opportunities available to Azienda Giusta Partner that choose to support the social projects of the Valter Baldaccini Foundation, there is the opportunity, whenever possible, to meet firsthand the beneficiaries of the project they have chosen to support.
This year, CoMeAr and BSP, whom we sincerely thank, chose to renew their commitment as Azienda Giusta Partner by making a significant donation to the “With the families” project and to the social and employment inclusion project carried out at the Leskoc House in Kosovo.
Representing the two companies, Erica Becchetti, Business Improvement Analyst at CoMeAr, took part in a volunteering experience with us at the Leskoc House in Kosovo. We asked her to share why she made this choice and how she experienced her days in Kosovo.
Because we believe in these projects and in the tangible help they provide.
“With the families” supports children and their parents during a particularly delicate stage in a child’s development, offering assistance that goes beyond material support and that anyone may need at some point. It is a commitment that feels even closer to us because it concerns our local community.
Then there is the Leskoc House, a place that welcomes children and teenagers from difficult backgrounds. It is a place surrounded by nature, which in some ways reminds us of our region of Umbria. It is located in Europe, only a two-hour flight away from us, and precisely because it is so close to home, you would not expect to encounter such situations.
For those who enter it, the Leskoc House in Kosovo represents stability, affection, and the hope of building a different future. It brings light into their lives, providing what every child should be able to have. Equally important is the support offered to families living in the surrounding areas who, even more than twenty years after the war, still feel forgotten. The House of Leskoc does not simply provide basic necessities: the delivery of a food parcel becomes a gesture of closeness, a way of saying, “we are here for you.”
When you see your help becoming something so meaningful, all you can do is continue to be there.
I had the privilege of meeting the children and young people living at the House of Leskoc and of learning about some of their stories, including that of a little girl who loves the world of Lilo & Stitch, a cartoon that speaks precisely about family, belonging, and the importance of never leaving anyone behind. And that is exactly what I saw at the House of Leskoc: a safe environment in which to grow, where, through everyday life, relationships, and sharing, people truly become a family.
I was also deeply struck by a conversation with a teenager who, at only 15 years old, was already speaking about overcoming hardship, showing remarkable maturity and determination to study and build her own future. And then there were three little girls, each with a different personality and difficult experiences behind them, who found in one another a profound bond within the House, supporting and caring for each other like sisters.
This is what we see in the projects of the Valter Baldaccini Foundation: not only support in the present, but also the opportunity to regain peace of mind, confidence in the future, and new prospects.
Knowing that we can play even a small part in this journey is certainly a source of great gratitude and pride.
“Life is life, defend it.” This is the phrase that was written to me on a note during my experience at the House of Leskoc, and I believe it captures the deepest meaning of this project: a child cannot defend themselves alone, they need someone to protect them. Francesca and Rinaldo, the managers of the House, dedicate their lives to these children, caring for them every day and becoming a point of reference for both their present and their future.
There are encounters that remind you how important it is to know that someone is there for you. I saw it in the eyes of the children and young people at the House of Leskoc, in the bonds they have built, and in the words of a mother supported through the “With the families” project: very different stories that all show how much of a difference it makes to feel welcomed and listened to.
And what could be more right than being part of such an important cause? For us, supporting these projects means having a positive impact on the lives of the people the Foundation meets, while pursuing a social commitment that is fully aligned with our company’s values. It means turning values into action and contributing to something that truly matters.
