The documentary film presents a previously unseen portrait of Valter Baldaccini through the voices of those who met and knew him. Memories, images, writings, original documents, but also reconstructed scenes from his life reveal a man of his word, never compromising to remain true to his choices and values, both personally and professionally. Valter Baldaccini was a simple, humble man of faith, a reflection of his origins and his deep connection to his roots, to Cannara, a small Umbrian village, where he was born, raised, and matured.

Valter Baldaccini was one of the most enlightened and intuitive engineers and entrepreneurs in the industrial landscape from 1970 to 2010, successfully creating with UMBRAGROUP—formerly Umbra Cuscinetti—a multinational that remains a leader in the aeronautical and industrial sectors, with 11 plants worldwide and over 1,600 employees. It’s an extended family, as he himself liked to call it, whose success has continued to grow, inspired by the values he believed in and the example of his life. The UMBRAGROUP family is a chorus of voices that intertwine, chase each other, and recognize each other, thanks to a unique language that is understandable to those who practice it, a network of memories and references that is still the genetic code of those who work there.

"Love your neighbor as yourself" is the golden rule of the Gospel that Valter loved to repeat and which he embraced in his work, as his collaborators testify, with his family—his wife Mariangela and his three children, Antonio, Leonardo, and Beatrice—and with his childhood and lifelong friends, with whom he shared his journey, without ever giving up his passions: soccer, the sea, and after-work dinners, moments when everyone simply called him Valter, "the boy who loved to sing and be happy."

The man, the principles, the faith

Thanks to his innate empathy, his great communication skills, and his lively intelligence, Valter Baldaccini, a man of courage, brings all his passions to the workplace. With his attention, respect, and care for others, he wins over even the clients of the companies he meets. He effortlessly creates a family atmosphere, friendly and affectionate, so much so that each of them feels "at home."

Behind every action and every choice, Valter the man watches, faithful to himself and his unquestionable principles, learned from an early age, consolidated during his years of Salesian formation, and subsequently defended and respected with great determination and moral integrity.

Having lost his father at just thirteen months, Valter grew up at home with three female figures: his mother Rosa, a local seamstress; his aunt Apollonia; and his grandmother Vienna. They all contributed to making him stubborn and kind, deeply faithful and generous, authoritative but not authoritarian. From an early age, he displayed great curiosity and intelligence, which allowed him to excel in his studies and establish himself as a natural leader among his friends, proposing and organizing unforgettable and curious trips and outings. Even in adolescence, a period in which he often attempted "rebellious" movements, his faith remained a constant companion. It is that same faith that, in adulthood, once he had established himself as an engineer and head of UMBRAGROUP, allowed him to continue to focus on the common good.

In the intertwining of his personal history and life, business decisions, successes and critical moments, projects and strategies, the logic of profit alone never existed for him. Profit went hand in hand with his generosity and his concern for others. Aware of his personal success, Valter Baldaccini did not boast of having become financially wealthy; The richness he seeks is different, and he finds it by turning his clear gaze to those in need: aid projects are born in his homeland and in Africa, projects he loves to personally oversee, to ensure their realization.

Family and friends

His wealth was his family: his children and his wife, Mariangela. It was his relationships with his colleagues, whose stories, and names he knew, and whom he greeted every day with a handshake as he walked the company corridors. For him, being rich meant granting everyone an opportunity, instilling trust; it meant instilling courage for new challenges during his speeches at meetings, company anniversaries, and holidays, never letting anyone forget that they were part of a family.

His wealth was his childhood friends and those he'd met at work, with whom he'd climbed mountains, spent New Year's Eves, traveled in tents, hiked, and taken long dips in the sea. Over time, even a silent walk, in search of understanding, became a dialogue.

His wealth was his connection to his homeland and the view from his home of its gentle hills, which allowed him, especially during his illness, to feel part of something greater. What Valter Baldaccini created and left behind continues to flourish, with a strength and determination that only a man of profound humanity, justice, and peace, such as he was, could have "naturally" inspired
