Celebrating the 70th birthday of Foligno’s Youth House

The Cnos-fapYouth House of Foligno celebrated its 70th birthday and it wanted to acknolwedge this milestone with Bishop Sigismondi, local institutions, former students, current students, professors and the Foundation.

It was also an opportunity to celebrate the renovation work which was achieved thanks to donations we recieved for the Post-earthquake Reconstruction project.

"Once again" said the mayor Nando Mismetti "the Foundation has demonstrated solidarity with the city right to the end”.

Our president, Beatrice recalled the beginning of the collaboration with the boy's house: "Following the earthquake that struck Umbria in August 2016, we came into contact with Foligno’s historic Youth House. Almost 3 years after the shockwaves, at this recognition of the Youth House’s 70th anniversary, we are happy to be present in inaugurating the renovated interior spaces. We intervened to give children a healthier and safer environment, where they can learn to live with diversity. Every educator must keep the little flame alive that refers to the teachings of Don Bosco. Best wishes to those who work in this School because educators practice a precious vocation for the healthy and sustainable progress of our society.”

And Bishop Monsignor Sigismondi also focused on the importance of educators, enhancing their role and highlighting some essential characteristics, such as authority, reliability, credibility and involvement.

The figure of Monsignor Spuntarelli, founder of Foligno’s Youth House, was also remembered as an enlightened bishop who wanted to offer sancutary to the most disadvantaged young people, creating a place to grow and learn to face the world.

Don Bosco's phrase "the first happiness a child knows is being loved”, is engraved on the plaque in memory of this day. May it be a wish for solidarity with and responsibility towards the youth of today and tomorrow.
