A plaque of honor for Valter Baldaccini, a man of peace

By will of the General Assembly of the United Nations, September 21 is celebrated as the International Day of Peace, established with the aim of dedicating a day to world peace. It is a day in which the member states of the UN, organizations, associations, and all citizens of the world are invited to promote and carry out initiatives on the theme of peace.

The celebration of the Day of Peace at the Sassovivo Abbey

The event that the UNESCO Club of Foligno and Valle del Clitunno, in collaboration with the Pro Foligno association, organized at the Abbey of Sassovivo, the Benedictine complex of Foligno that since 2010 has been designated "Witness Place of a Culture of Peace", is part of these awareness-raising actions.

During the celebration, Pro Foligno, whom we thank, chose to award Valter Baldaccini the “plaque of honor” for bringing the values of peace to the world. The award was presented by vice presidents Monica Alessandri and Dr. Mario Tinio, to Eng. Reno Ortolani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UMBRAGROUP, who shared with Valter Baldaccini business challenges, moments of difficulty, important goals and above all a professional and personal relationship based on mutual respect: “In Valter Baldaccini’s speeches, words such as respect, friends, family, social responsibility were very frequent. Here, those terms, if practiced all together, result in peace”.

Valter Baldaccini and the value of peace

Peace was one of the founding values for Valter Baldaccini. It is a word that we find many times in his writings and that for him was not just an idea to pursue, but the foundation of his daily actions, the basis of his personal and professional relationships.

It was December 1999 and in “Noi Umbra”, the periodical of UMBRAGROUP, Valter Baldaccini wrote: “May a new era begin in which humanity finally finds that peace, which is the value on which others are grafted, because peace means life, growth, the search for improvement in relationships with others and in relationships between peoples. In peace, man can truly become the center of every activity”.
