Updates from the Kosovo project

The socio-educational project started a few months ago in Kosovo has a clear objective: to improve, through training and access to work, the condition of a group of women who gravitate around Leskoc House, allowing them to regain their dignity, in a country where, especially in the more rural areas, the situation of women is truly dramatic.

A dozen women attended training courses in the dairy, in the bakery and pastry shop and today two of them work permanently in the cooperative created to manage all the collateral activities at the House’s real beating heart: welcoming minors without families who live in situations of extreme hardship and whose removal from their family represents the only opportunity for a better life.

The activity of the dairy managed by the women of the Leskoc House

Even though the bakery and pastry training courses were conducted at a distance due to the pandemic, the dairy had an important increase in production: every day about 600 liters of milk are processed and about 50 kg of cheeses are produced which until now are sold directly on site, waiting to have all the necessary authorizations and certifications for external sales in shops, restaurants and pizzerias.

The dairy still has considerable margins production margins and employment development as it could process up to 1,000 liters of milk per day. Currently two women and a boy work there. He has now become a young man since he was welcomed by the Leskoc House when he was a child.

The project dedicated to the emancipation of women in Kosovo can only grow if you support its goals. Donate now and allow more and more women to acquire training and work, a sure way to autonomy and independence. Every little gesture is a precious resource, thank you from the heart.
