Doctor Paola's smile

“My name is Paola Pizzuti, I am a doctor and I work for the ANT Foundation in Perugia. Despite the difficulties and the initial fear, even in recent months, since the Covid-19 epidemic overwhelmed our country and the whole world, I have continued to bring medical care to the homes of people with cancer assisted by ANT.

I love the work I do: for me as a professional, home care is the most beautiful where we treat the sick because a special relationship is created. It makes me happy that patients and family members know they can count on me and I realize that my frequent presence, home visits and the services we offer as a team reassure them a lot.

I've always thought that sometimes a word or a smile is enough to make a person feel better ... yes, a smile! But, in recent months we have had to hide behind a mask that, even if at times inexorably distances us from the person we care for, at the same time it is essential to protect the most fragile patients and ourselves.

When I returned to a patient's home for the first time, after the brief suspension at the beginning of the lockdown, I wanted to hold him tightly to me, and tell him here I am… we have not left you alone. Thanks so much for everything. My heart goes out to those who have allowed us to do what we love to do with tranquility and safety”.

With these words, Dr. Paola Pizzuti, one of the Ant Foundation, health team doctors of the delegation in Umbria wanted to tell us about her experience and thank the Valter Baldaccini Foundation and all the people who are close to us for the supply of the PPE necessary to visit at home patients in complete safety, thanks to a complete supply of:

  • 300 ffp2 masks
  • 500 gloves
  • 200 disposable gowns
  • 200 pairs of shoe covers
  • 200 headphones
  • 15 pairs of glasses
  • 15 alcoholic disinfectants for hand sanitization

These supplies are allowing Dr. Paola and all her colleagues to continue to guarantee care and support to those who are facing critical moments of the disease.

This is just one of the actions of the social project that we are carrying out this year with ANT Foundation in support of cancer patients.
