On May 22, 2016, the Valter Baldaccini Foundation donated € 2,000 to the Serafico Institute in Assisi for its projects.
The Serafico Institute is an important institution in our territory which, for 145 years, continues its mission: to guarantee the fullness of life for children and young people with multiple disabilities. In fact, the Serafico Institute in Assisi is a specialized facility for the rehabilitation, education and social inclusion of children, teenagers and young adults with severe physical and mental disabilities.
Each year more than 150 families from all regions of Italy rely on the services of the Institute.
Due to the expertise and professionalism of the staff, a personalized educational and rehabilitation program is offered to disabled children. Certified and innovative therapies are also combined with everyone’s heart and dedication.
On February 14, 2017, the Valter Baldaccini Foundation donated € 5,000 for the purchase of a water mattress, a hammock and some soundtracks needed to create a room dedicated to sensory stimulation: the Snoezelen Room, designed to help Children with disabilities.
It is a protected space dedicated to the relaxation of the child who is isolated from a context of continuous verbal communication and in contact with an environment which develops non-verbal communication and space-time orientation.
To pursue this goal, all five senses interact with each other through different stimuli.
Specific benefits have been identified for different types of users: people with cognitive disabilities, people with psychiatric problems, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, people with stroke and cranial traumas; Finally, the benefit is also beneficial for the reduction of acute and chronic pain caused by the stress of childbirth.
